Yes, I still have one of these. I've changed the battery about every year, but so far that was the only problem I've ever had. I love this little guy and I do all my writing on it. At last count, that was about 1000 pages and wore out two blue tooth keyboards.

There were 15 pages of new material on it when it stopped working. OK, new battery time. Except that didn't work. And I can't get those pages back. The SD card holder broke a couple of years back and I had been emailing myself the new work about every few pages.

I've been kicking myself that I hadn't done that with this last batch.

Symptoms and what I have done so far:

Does not go past the large text ACER boot screen.

Did soft reset (power, volume up)

Nope. Used canned air to clean it out. A couple of times, it DID go to the small text animated screen.

Left it off for 24 hours.

Let it charge. Did soft reset. Got to charging icon. Never charged.

Left it off for a week.

Tried to charge. Nothing past large text icon.

Tried to connect via USB to PC. Hoping to pull file out like it was a flash drive.

USB hub MELTED. I mean, it has my thumb indentation in it.

Ordered a new hub. Old one was very old, cheap brand. Maybe it was ready to die.

Hooked up new hub. Tried again. Melted the USB cord at the tablet port.

Yeah, I've gone past my ideas. Any suggestions? I'm not sure I can rewrite this section again. It was really hard the first time...

Sorry to say but that pretty much sounds like toast, except the stinky melted plastic kind. :( There is something seriously wrong internally to melt anything connected to the USB. Normally there's no more than 500mA available which can't hurt anything even when shorted...
