Tested on two laptops, business Dell and private Aspire E15.
Through the cable I have full speed - 300 Mbit/s.
But through Wi-Fi there a huge differences. Laptops are ~3 meters from router.
And Dell has 240 Mbit/s. But Aspire only maximum 40 Mbit/s.
Thats normal, weak wireless card, or problem is not in the card?
Same result after clean Windows 10 reinstall.
If problem is in wireless card - can i replace it by other, faster model?

Open DeviceManager. Click 'network adapters' folder. Right click wifi card. Click 'properties" Click 'advanced' tab. Click 'preferred band'. Change 'no preference' to 5GHz band. If no joy, try 2.4GHz band. Jack E/NJ

Jack, it's not easy :-) After some investigation I know that I have BCM43142, single band. Then I don't have "Preferred band" position in menu.
Now I'm trying to check - can I replace my card by new one, dual band?

Just opened the laptop case. Inside is BCM943142HM. I can't find any reliable information about this card, how fast should it be?

Does this mean you tested this exact same BCM943142HM card on a DELL laptop and then also on the exact same ACER laptop. And only the DELL had the higher download speed with this card? Jack E?NJ

    No, no no...
Dell has other wireless card. Information about better speed in Dell has one reason only - elimination of problem with router, walls and so on.

The reason I asked is because the BCM943142HM card appears to be a 2.4/5GHz dual-band wifi/bluetooth capable card specified for Dell mainboards It may also work on an ACER mainboard but maybe not to its full capability. Did you purchase this laptop directly from an ACER-certified online store or another vendor? Jack E/NJ

You might try downloading and installing each of the appropriate Wifi/bluetooth drivers from the ACER site https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/5385?b=1 to see if any of them work better for you. If not, and if it's no longer under warranty, I suggest trying the Intel 3160HMW dual band/ bluetooth combination card that is often used in the E5 series mainboards. 802.11ac a/b/g/n. About $20USD from many sellers. Jack E/NJ

    Hmmm...
I tried to replace original card by Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 62205ANHMW.
But now in devices manager I have "Centrino Advanced N 6205" with yello exclamation mark.
Drivers installed, laptop restarted and nothinh, still the same, wifi not available :-(

Yellow exclamation means the wrong device driver. Jack E/NJ

I tried some other combinations, drivers from Intel site also tried to find automatically (when wire connected). No result.
But il live linux cd works perfectly, almost 150 Mbit/sec.

What works in Linux? The BCM943142HM? Or the Centrino? Or both? Jack E/NJ

Have you tried iobit's DriverBooster freeware with the BCM943142HM installed while wired to the internet? Jack E/NJ
