Hello! I own an Acer Pred G3-710 i7-6700 series with 16gb RAM and an Nvidia GTX 960 but no SSD atm as this is my first time upgrading a computer because the warranty just ended. I ask what upgrades can I put on my computer that are affordable? My budget is somewhere around $500 for this upgrade. Also, I was looking into RTX 2060 Super or is that overkill for this kind of setup? Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated.

Yes, as Sharanji suggests your first upgrade should be an M.2 SATA3 SSD. It will make more difference in system performance than anything else at the start. Memory is second, though with 16GB right now that might only help with resource hogs. I run 32GB in my desktop. A GPU is likely next and the 2060 Super is a great card, but you'll get less "bang for the buck" with a GPU than with the SSD. Processor is last on the list, you are pretty much maxed out there already. So work the budget... Figure out which M.2 SATA SSD you like, you can go with the ones Sharanji suggests (which Acer has tested or shipped in the model) or with a different one or different size. You should have no problems at least until you exceed 2TB in size, just don't get an NVMe. Look at how much you hav less and the prices of both memory and GPU to decide which to do next.
