Hi,
I'd appreciate any help you guys can give with my Laptop.
Ive an Acer Aspire E1-572 running windows 8.1 64 bit.
My Wifi wont connect to the internet, in fact it wont turn on. I've tried the Fn + F2 flight mode and that works. ( ie it goes in and out of flight mode ok) Diagnostics is saying ' wireless capability is turned off', ' radio is off ( H/W switch )'.
'Repair option : Turn on wireless capability'. ' Use the switch on the front or side of the computer, or function keys'
I cant find any physical switch on this model.
I phoned Acer help. after 25 min on the phone the guy answered then hung up before I'd finished explaining the issue, lol.
I've fitted a replacement Atheros QCWB335 WiFi card in it, but it's still the same.
I've uninstalled the drivers, tried system restore. It detects the WiFi card and installs the best driver. No problems are shown on device manager.
I've even changed the power management to try to ensure it cant turn the wifi off, even though the battert is fully charged and on mains power.
It basically looks like WIFI is switched of somewhere physically.
The no ethernet issue is most likely caused by me.
even plugging in the RJ45 connection ( tested on another laptop so works) I get no internet. No network connections are shown.
In network connections I just have the WIFI showing 'not connected'. red x but full green bars.
Im hoping the laptop isn't knackered.
Im in the processs of transferring the contents a portable 1TB drive to my NAS so I can use it to make a clone of the drive in case I need to reformat it and try from sctratch.
thanks
Gerry
