Hello, I have this old laptop and have been playing age of empires 2 HD with a few friends. From what I've gathered so far the ram is removable. Other than the ram becoming faulty, and needing to be replaced, I'm yet to figure out why. Is there any way I can upgrade the laptop to make it more capable of playing this game as I don't want to invest in a whole new system just to play one game, I have games consoles for gaming mainly.

How much RAM does your system have? I don't know about that particular processor, but I had a similar one (T7300) and its maximum limit was 4GB @ 667MHz so if you have less than that you can possibly upgrade it to 4GB. I think the low latency ones at that frequency were CL4 if I'm not mistaken.

The graphics card is most likely soldered to the motherboard and can't be replaced, but finding a newer processor could help out a bit. 2nd hand Socket P processors ought to be cheap nowadays, I had upgraded mine to a T9500 back in the day and it was an improvement by all metrics. It was a different machine anyway, compatibility with newer processors depends on the motherboard.

It is 4gb ddr2 ram. There seems to be some 8gb ram available (2x4gb) but its slower? The ram in is 2x2gb 6400 whereas the others are 2x4gb 5300. Not sure it's worth doing that. I may have to just leave it to be honest.

Just tried to check what's the maximum RAM the processor supports (it's an Pentium T4300 by the way, right?), but I couldn't get anything definite. I know both my T7300 and T9500 couldn't get past 4GB, even if I were to put 2 sticks of 4GB each.

PC5300 would be the one you need I think, it's the DDR2 at 667MHz. More speed than that could be supported too, but that would be the maximum speed the processor is rated at, the memory wouldn't go faster than that.
