I have looked on many websites and found nothing much. I would like a definitive answer regarding the upgradeability of my model (Swift 3 SF314-54g-52L8). I was wondering if this model of mine supports a NVME SSD. My Swift 3 is currently equipped with HFS128G39TND-N210A.

Also, I believe it has 4GB that is soldered on and 1 free RAM slot. For the free RAM slot, can I install a 16GB DDR4 2400MHz SODIMM RAM (which should result in 20GB of ram if I am correct?)?

Much thanks!

Acer says the slot supports up to a 8GB module. You can try a larger one, but make sure you can return it if it doesn't work or works, but in an unstable fashion. Remember there are lots and lots of different Swift 3 models. I don't know of any that officially support the larger size, but as you have noticed, some people have had success.

The SF314-54G model supports one 2.5" HDD or SSD and a single M.2 slot with a SATA SSD, NVMe SSD or an Intel Optane. It has either 4GB or 8GB onboard memory soldered in and a single socket for an additional 4GB or 8GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM SO-DIMM module. If you have 4GB now you can upgrade to 12GB, if you have 8GB you can upgrade to 16GB.

To clarify, I can't install a 16GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM SODIMM module in the single socket?

So I ran "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity" in command prompt and it returned 33554432KB (~32GB). Is this number wrong since the based on billsey's answer and Crucial System Scanner, the max manufacturer supported memory RAM is 16GB.

I also read on other Acer community posts where some people managed to installed a 16GB module on a swift 3 and resulted in a total of 20GB.

In short, can I install a 16GB RAM module or does my laptop not support it?
