My laptop model is AN515-53-52FA. It came with a 2.5" sata HDD installed. I want to upgrade the harddrive that houses my operating system, but I have zero experience with whatever the M.2 drives are.

When I check the Crucial upgrade compatibility list, I see that this harddrive here is compatible with my laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0784SY515?tag=price17016-20&ascsubtag=wtbs_5ef725e10f6e5b9cf79e5c51&th=1

1. Does this drive get installed in a different location than where my HDD currently is?

2. Can I move my operating system to the new drive and keep the HDD as an internal storage drive?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I can't find anyone asking it about my specific model and I'm always worried that I'm confusing information since it's been about a decade since I've built or even upgraded parts on a computer.
