Hi everyone!

My power adapter (charger) is damaged and I need to get a new one. I found this one online: https://www.power-adapter-store.com/power_adapter_fit_acer_aspire_es1-533.html?search=acer aspire es1-533
It looks OK but its output is 65W (19V 3.42A). The charger that came with my laptop gives output 45W (19V 2.37A) and it worked fine until i broke it.

I hate the idea to change the charger, especially if it means higher power and, maybe, more heating which could be dangerous for the laptop.

Do you thing I should just go ahead and buy the 65W adapter?
Is there a recommendation or something from Acer about that?

Answers

  • a) watts: can be equal or higher. It cannot be inferior.
    b) amperage: can be equal or higher. It cannot be inferior.
    c) voltage: must be the same. It cannot be inferior or superior.

So, even if the power adapter has 65w and 3.42a, there will be no problems, because the hardware itself will only accept 45w and 2.37a. Now, the voltage must be identical.
