internet only works when connected to mains charger

Hi, 

 

I've just joined the community and hope someone can help me.

 

I love my new laptop (bought Feb 2013) but I have one issue - the only way I can get it to connect to the internet is if I have it connected to the mains battery charger. I know the issue is not with the home wireless broadband connection as my husband has a laptop and is experiencing no issues with connection.I have also reset the connection numerous times. I was working with Internet Explorer but recently downloaded Google Chrome. The problem remains the same.

 

My laptop is an Aspire E1-571 on Windows 8.

The issue may be related to the power scheme set on the system. 

 

If the power scheme is allowed to power off componenets that are not being used, like the wireless card, that would result in issues that you are seeing.
