Has anyone updated this laptop to the latest May 2004 Windows version? I'm told, if i update the latest Nvidia driver, i will see the update. Has anyone had any compatibility problems with any of Acer's software, like predator sense or Care Center? I'm mainly just using the predator sense software, so i can monitor system temps.

There is no compatibility issue in window 10 2004 version.

But I don't recommend you to update now because their are many bug in new version, microsoft is working on these issues

New version include incompatibility with older Nvidia graphics cards running driver 358.00 and older, breaking mouse input with apps and games, and problems connecting to multiple Bluetooth devices with certain Realtek drivers.

Windows 10 update 2004 will start landing in users’ machines after these bugs get squashed

Pause your window update for a month and do not install latest software that support new version

Thanks, please let us know when you think it is safe to install 2004 on an a515-54G (no SSD) laptop, I read about Realtek Intel and Nvidia driver issues as well as hundreds of daily ESENT Event errors and a buggy Defragmenter in 2004!

Puraw/brwster455 i wouldnt recommend updating windows period lol (its my own personal view everyone is free to do it at their will) im still on 1809 without a single issue for 2+ years unless you use gamepass theres no need to update anything only if u really need to and whatever needed and manually :) the way microsoft works its one good version then 3/4 bad and one good lol for ex 1703 was ok 1803 garbage 1809 good 1903/09 not so good too much useless garbage/background services added to them making thermals go up and the smart idea of force turbo boost at all times on 2 cores only and park the remaining  the new announced 2004 loads of issues/bugs as usual they release it full of bugs and will fix them after the users find them and report them we basically guinea pig for them   :)

First of all I would suggest that every user should have a complete backup of their curent system (with Windows Backup, Macrium, EaseUS etc backup software) and/or do a "Restore Point" before doing a major Windows 10 update e.g. from 1909 to 2004, it just makes good practice and good sense! Secondly, I would definatley not recommend that people don't Update Windows!

I've run every "MS Windows 10 Update" and that includes version 2004 and never ever had any troubles or problems, yes, Windows 10 updates have caused serious issues for some people but not all and that is how every person should look at updates,as majorupdates affect a very small proportion of users. People should read about version 2004 and analyse how and what this update will do (which may or may not) affect their system(s) before recommending not to update.

Btw, this is for an Acer V3-571G that has an NVIDIA GT640 and Realtek Wi/Fi-BT and everything works 100% perfectly and as a matter of a fact my Win-10 Pro OP works at least 25% fater and better. Download the version 2004 "Windows 10 May 2020 Update" as a stand alone update not through "Windows Update" from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and the "Windows 10 Update Assistant" from here Update now, cheers and hope this helps everyone.

One of the main issues with windows feature updates its regarding new laptops with new hardware in some cases doesnt work properly with old hardware everything was tested with all previous versions so technically there shouldnt be major issues

I would like to know if anyone with an Aspire 5 a515-54G laptop has made the upgrade to v 2004, not so much concerned about the ESENT, Storage spaces and Defrag issues but worry about all my (legacy) Intel drivers  (Processor, Chipset, WFI, BT and UHD GPU), My Nvidia drivers  MX250 v 26.21.14.4137 and Realtek Audio drivers. Maybe I should start a new thread for Aspire 5 a515-54G?

First, if you are worried (which I wouldn’t be) backup your system with Macrium Reflect, EaseUS sort of backup software, which you should do anyway every day, week or month. There is nothing to worry about with the new Version: 2004/OS build: 19041.330 it works perfectly. The warnings of anything going wrong is for about 0,001% of Win-10 users and its “Microsoft covering their base” after what happened last year with 1903 May 19, 2019 update.

I've also downloaded and installed Version: 2004/OS build: 19041.330 onto another of my laptops that also has Win-10 Pro (which I changed from the OEM Home) and it works 100%, that is with a vertually new "Predator Triton 500, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Nvidia RTX 2070 Super, and it works perfectly not a problem and as a matter of a fact, its has speed up Win-10in many regards.

    Hi @xapim
Will open a new thread to see if anyone with my config updated to 2004. I will also wait a while (maybe after 2 months) to update to 2004 if I feel it is safe.
    Thanks
