so i got a second hand vetiton online it was working fine when i got it. i wanted to throw in a gpu to game a little on it. but since i didnt have a gpu at the time and a friend of mine was using an old dual core pentium i thought i could help him out with the i5 4570 which was in this machine. i sent him the part and started looking for a replacement cpu. i found a 4440S which i put in the system but it wouldnt post. it thought it was the cpu. so i found another 4460 which also did not post. i tested both cpus today at work in another system and both cpus posted just fine. i wanted this system to be a simple upgrade so i did not touch any wires or conectors. the only thing i did was take the cooler off and replace the cpu. i checked and none of the pins in the socket are bent. could it be that the bios doesnt like the 44XX chips. the original chip was a 4570
here is what i have tested
i5 4440s
i5 4460
dvi port mother board
display port 1 & 2 motherboard
dvi port discreet gpu
display port discreet gpu

its a really anoying problem as i want to get this thing built and i have barely touched it so i dont know why its not posting.
oh btw the screen is fine. its from my main rig. i plug my main rig back in and it works just fine

cheers in advance

Was the original an i5-4570, or the S, R or T versions? There's a big difference between them as to power requirements. Why would you be trying to put a 4440 or 4460S in? They would both be slower than the stock chip. If you wanted something faster you should bump him to an i7 instead of the i5. I'd look at the i7-4770(S,R,T) or i7-4970(S,R,T) with matching power to the standard processor.

    thanks for the reply dude.
well its a long story. basically i had a friend that was in need of an i5 as he was still gaming on a pentium dual core. so i gave the 4570 away. it was just a standard 4570 not an S or T model.
so the system needed a cpu. the thing is supposed to cost me as little as possible so i dont really care what goes in it as long as its a quad core i5. i think thats minimum for gaming. im paring it with a 1050ti as it does not need a 6/8 pin power as it gets its power thru the pci3.
all the compnents i put into the system are working as i tested them on other rigs. so both processors and the gpu work fine in other systems.
i just cant get this system to post. its wierd because all the fans are spinning up normal and it seems everything is fine. i just dont get any picture. and it worked before i messed with it. i dunno if i broke something or what i did.
i tested with and without the discreet gpu.
i volunteer at a charity, second hand computer store so im putting systems together every day to give away or sell at cost price to families with less money. we are a bit amateur as we havnt gone to college or anything for IT. just a bunch of enthusiasts trying to build pc's for people. but no one at my work or myself can figure this one out. thats why i have posted here.
