Hi guys,

Late last year I bought an Acer Swift 5.

After charging it to full battery, upon using it, the battery only last up to 3.5hrs and that's having approx 3 chrome windows open (including music streaming) plus a couple of Word documents at the same time. I'm not very tech savvy but I wonder if there is anything I can do to improve the battery life.

Check to see which power profile you are using first. Next check to make sure you aren't running your screen at full brightness. Next check to see if you have any apps that are constantly transferring data to and from the internet. Those are likely the biggest culprits for using battery up faster than normal.
There is also battery calibration, if the calibration is bad one symptom is for Windows to decide your battery is low even though there's still plenty of charge. You calibrate the battery by starting with a full charge and running it on battery until it shuts off due to low battery. Charge it fully again before turning it back on and repeat a few times. Windows will then give you more accurate number for the battery.

    Thanks @billsey!!

Will give the battery calibration a go. Currently I charge it up to full then use it without the charger, until it dies. Then continue using it while it's charging up. Overnight, I will keep the charger plugged in to charge it up.

Checked the brightness - I definitely had that on high.

What's the best way to check apps running in the background? Task Manager?

Yeah, Task Manager and Resource Monitor in concert with each other is what I use. See who's doing disk or network access since they'll use more power than just CPU/GPU.
