I have an old printer, hence my clever username (I also couldn't find another username). I have an Acer Aspire 3 laptop. (I CHOSE "ASPIRE E AND F SERIES LAPTOPS" AS THE CATEGORY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO OPTION I COULD SEE THAT MATCHED MY COMPUTER.) I also have a printer: an HP Deskjet 722c which I got like five years ago when my workplace at the time was getting rid of all their *****. Trying to find drivers for this printer or contacting HP customer service is like nailing jello to a wall. For God's sake, the printer works fine, I shouldn't have to buy a new one. So I'm doing the best I can to rule that out.
I went to this link and it didn't work. At least, I think it didn't. I don't know what I"m doing. I somehow ended up with a 720C on my computer which evidently is what this link says to do... but it doesn't work.
Does anyone know about this? Thanks

    Try these steps:
    1. You are running Windows 10 64bitor 32bit? Also, how did you connect the 722C? Did you connect it with a USB-parallel converter cable? As that is the only way to connect the 722C.

    2. Then try this> plug the 722C into your laptop, make sure that the printer is on and see if "Windows Update" has a generic driver for the 722C as it will update to an appropriate driver automatically?
    3. Or> unstill the 722C driver that you have, install the 722C driver with the printer connected and on and see if the printer is recognised by Win-10 and can be used?
    4. If that doesn't work then use this "add an older printer locally using a USB cable, use these steps":
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Click on Devices.
    3. Click on Printers & scanners.
    4. Click the Add a printer or scanner button
    5. Wait a few moments.
    6. Click The printer that I want isn't listed option.
    7. Select the My printer is a little older. Help me find it. option.
    8. Select your printer from the list.
    9. Click the Next button.
    10. Type a name for the printer.
    11. Click the Next button.
    12. Select the Do not share this printer option.
    13. Click the Next button.
    14. Click the Print a test page option to confirm that the device is working.
    15. Click the Finish button.
Once you've completed the steps, you should be able to start printing to the device.
