Nitro 5 AN515-51-55WL with a battery that will not charge.
I'm looking for anyone who has tried to replace the original battery in their Acer AN515-51 with another battery, after the original will no longer charge? We service our own computers, and have replaced many internal/non-external batteries in various laptops. This model Acer, from 2017 has been a problem more than once. When we receive the laptop, the battery is at 0%, says plugged in, not charging in Windows. It will not hold a charge, no matter what adapter is used, or how long its left plugged in. We researched the exact battery via Ebay, AC14B3K, and have ordered from 3 different vendors. The new battery looks exactly like the original, and has the same part numbers, voltages, etc. But we've never gotten one to work, 3 different computers, 4 different batteries. I've not tried pricing or ordering a battery from either of the two companies listed as an official Acer supplier, but hesitate as nothing has worked so far, and I sure don't want to order the likely more expensive "original" if there is some other inherent problem? I also realize that ordering batteries from eBay can be iffy, sometimes really popular batteries can even be faked, but don't see this battery as being something that anyone would go out of their way to try sell the battery for $20 by mocking up all the information and making it look exactly the same. We've ordered from 3 different vendors as well. But maybe someone knows more than I do, I hope!
Have tried all the standard hold power button in/unplugged, with and without the battery. This unit also has a very small pin switch that is supposed to be the substitute for resetting the battery, and we have tried it as well. The unit will not hold a charge in any way. I don't have access to another of these units in my system or I could take out a functioning original battery to swap and test, but i'm also careful that I won't just end up with another battery that won't charge?
We have a number of these in our system that will likely start having battery problems, so any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
