Like so many other posts I've seen, i my slightly less than 2yr old Aspire 5 has suffered the dreaded left hinge failure. I started noticing the left hinge/bezel felt "loose", and then the bezel cracked just below the screen above the left hinge. Now opening the laptop screen requires great care or the whole bezel detaches from the frame
and even the led starts to move. I thought it must be a screw loose or something, so i looked more closely, and the actual aluminum frame broke between the hinge and LCD frame just behind the screw. Talk about poor design. Pictures below.
I've done plenty of screen replacements/repairs before, so I'm hoping this one is straight forward. I think I've found replacement frame/hinge parts for about $20 on Amazon. Has anyone had this same defect or done this repair before?
