No POST Initialization Results Display on Boot

System Model: Aspire TC-780
BIOS Mode: UEFI
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. R02-B0, 12/6/2017
BaseBoard Product: Aspire TC-780(KBL)

On boot up, I can't see the results of the POST before loading the OS. It boots fine, except that it's excruciatingly slow when external HDD's are connected, and I have five of them connected. I'm troubleshooting the issue (and other USB anomalies) but am not seeing the results of POST initialization. Pretty much ever since I've had this (02/2019), the only thing that displays on POST is "boot options" and "bios settings" (F12 and <del>, respectively).

On another, older unit with AMI Legacy BIOS (v5.09, 8/19/2009), POST provides results of initialization. Is there a way to get it to display? Or does my BIOS not have that function?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Check to see if your BIOS settings have a fast startup option, many of them do and that hides most boot messages. Otherwise there are quite a few different systems that just give the Acer splash screen, then the F2/F10 options then heads directly into Windows load without displaying anything from POST unless POST run into an error. If that's the case with yours you may be stuck not watching the results scroll past. :)
For the slow external HDD startup, are they also slow if disconnected during boot and reconnected after Windows is up? There is a filesystem initialization that Windows does with any external drive and if the filesystem has any errors it can take a long time. You will also see it slow (in current terms) if connected to a USB 2.0 port, the data transfer is just enough slower on those to make a noticeable difference. We didn't see it as much when USB 2.0 was the hot new thing, but those drives were much smaller than what we're using these days.
