Why Acer Swift 5 514-54GT use only PCIe 3.0 x 2 link instead of PCIe 3.0 x 4 link to Kingstone SSD ?

Hello all. I'm owner of Acer Swift 5 514-GT54 and I working with Microsoft and Intel as Windows Insider Tester.
For Acer Swift 5 Core i7 1065G7 system here I had notice that Acer use only PCIe 3.0 x 2 with its Kingston SSD 512GB
via Intel lastest Optane Memory and Storage Management 17.9.1006.0 WHQL as picture above.

I'd like to choose PCIe 3.0 x 4 for optimal performance with the system. Could Acer teams correcting these part for all Swift 5 user around the world please ?

The Intel 495 chipset can perform better if you let it working full link performance. The chipset had 16 lane PCIe 3.0 according to it datasheet below.

Intel Icelake PCH 495 featuring 16 lane PCIe 3.0 . I think Acer team can do their best for all customers.

Have you checked with hwinfo64 the speed that appears?

The part that you showing on was PCI to PCI bridge (CPU to Intel 495 PCH) not a storage controller one.
Both Skylake Kabylake Coffeelake Cometlake and Icelake U/Y on this section was show the same link speed
via HWinfo64 as picture below.

It was CPU to PCH bridge not storage controller speed however when I had check by click the storage info once.

We'll see the HWinfo64 detecting HM170/QM170 PCH SATA RAID Controller that control KINGSTON SSD via NVME 1.2 Protocol
Then when I checking the Intel HM170/QM170 PCH Link Speed it was picture below.

After checking via Sisoft Sandra 2020 lastest version. I think Acer choose very best component on premium class here.
However we can not see any details about what KINGSTON 512GB SSD attached and its link speed via Sisoft Sandra.

Hi,
I don't understand why Intel SiSoftware reports a Kingston RBUSNS8154P3512GJ1 as PCIe/NVMe SSD, when I check the speeds in Userbenchmark, I couldn't find any 4 lanes speeds.

Hi all , I think we got it now! After search relate topic here about Kingston RBUSNS8154P3512GJ1 NVME SSD.
I saw our friend get same problem on Kingston RBUSNS8154P3512GJ1 using PCIe 3.0 x 2 mode rather than PCIe 3.0 x 4 mode.

So Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management 17.9.1006.0 WHQL report here was true.

My Swift 5 performance is OK. However if Acer can manage this point via config Kingston RBUSNS8154P3512GJ1 on PCIe 3.0 x 4 mode.
Every users around the world will be more impressive on this model.

And if they can adopt Intel lastest microcode 00000082 for Icelake U/Y to new BIOS version (newier than 1.14)
It will bring new level of performance for us too.

Now I had testing with 00000046 microcode for Windows 10 2021 H1 Insider Preview Build 19631.1. Overall performance of this laptop also good.
