Aspire E 15 display turns off while charger is plugged in

As soon as I plug in the charger, the screen turns black. As soon as I unplug the charger, the screen comes back. Nothing else is affected.
I have seen videos on Youtube suggesting the refresh rate needs to be changed. However when I check in, no alternative refresh rate is available. It is set to 60p Hz at the moment.
I have also checked the display driver installed is already the latest available.
