I want to upgrade my F5-572G-595M (Australian model) to 16GB RAM and add an SSD HDD. It was purchased in 2016 and I assume is now out of warranty.
My factory HDD is making clicking noises and I am concerned it will fail. I purchased the laptop new but I have no factory-issued recovery media, having moved house and not retained original packaging etc.
I believe I can purchase a caddy and move the original HDD to the optical drive port, and install an SSD in the remaining HDD port.
Q1: With no recovery media, how do I install the OS, drivers, etc. to the SSD? I assume this is the sensible option for booting up speed etc.
Q2: Are optical drive caddies able to be used in different model laptops? Specifically, will a caddy for an F5-573G (e.g. amazon.com.au/gp/product/B087ZFKJB6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1B7ME9XLFTYZ6&psc=1) work in my F5-572G? Note that living in Australia, I cannot purchase a caddy from hddcaddy.com in the Netherlands.
Q3: What is the maximum SSD storage capacity I can install?
Many thanks in advance.
