I have the same problem just got a Brand New ACER A515-15 i7 10th Gen,
Whenever I remove the headphones the computer shuts off without doing a normal shut down it just turns off.

Same laptop and just updated with KB5001391 W10 20H2 19042.964 Home single language

This problem is hardware related, after updating windows and unplugging my earphone, 2 ring (3 contacts), 3.5mm jack (without mike) my Acer Aspire 5 laptop shuts down (no event errors other than "Unexpected Shutdown). When I use a 3 ring TRRS jack earphone (3.5mm) that includes a mike contact no issues when unplugging. Seems that the 2 ring jack (without a microphone connection) is not compatible with our laptop model. These are brand new earphones and I tried 2 different "2 ring" jacks (both new) with the same negative result (laptop will shut down when unplugging this type of jack)
