I have a Nitro 5, the device screen goes black mid usage. Needs force shutdown to work again. Help.

My laptop model is AN515-42. I have been using this device since January 2019 but over last last 3-4 days I am experiencing the screen to go completely black mid usage. I am not even gaming or doing any extensive task. While playing youtube videos I can still hear the playback but that is not the case with VLC or any other video player. The keyboard backlight remains on and so does the external mouse light but neither of them respond and the only option left is to force shutdown the device and restart again which causes the same problem repeatedly. Please help me out here.

    Same thing happening to me. I'm just going to return for a full refund. I grabbed an i5 and this issue happened, so I returned thinking it was a model issue. Grabbed an i7 and it's the identical issue! Going for a full refund at this point - I'm just so curious as to why it's happening, and how so few are reporting the issue if 2/2 laptops had this issue!

    This is going to sound crazy but do you wear a watch with a magnetized clasp? There's a sensor on the bottom left side of these laptops that detects when you close the lid. My FitBit kept triggering the laptop! I'm still returning it - because I can't be bothered with the hassle. But at least now I know why it happened on two brand new laptops! :disappointed:
