Hello, I need help with my laptop it just suddenly turned off then says "No Bootable Device" what does that mean? I've already did the F2 thing, then enabling f12 boot menu but I can't find the legacy thingy in boot menu. Please help me fix this. My laptop is Acer Aspire A515-54

Yeah, you don't want to enable Legacy boot unless you are running a really old OS, like XP or Vista... Do you have another system you can use to help with diagnostics? The first step is to create a Windows install image on a flash drive. You can do that on another PC or even a Mac, but probably not on Android or an iPhone. Your machine came originally with Windows 10 Home 64 bit and unless you've changed to a different OS that's the install image you need to create. Once you have that we'll go through the steps to boot into diagnostic mode and figure out what's going on. Often it's an issue with the drive, but sometimes it's just something corrupted.

There could be many things that could cause “No Bootable Device” error you could have a damaged or faulty HDD but, the main reasons that you get this error are as follows and this is what you should do::

    1) Check your boot order - An incorrect boot order can mislead your computer to boot from an unbootable hard drive or device, and therefore you get a “No bootable device” error. So you should make sure your hard drive is the first of the boot order. To check your boot order press F2 or F12 and get into the BIOS > Boot and see what is the 1st boot order device, change to 1st if its not the hard drive.

    2) Fix boot information of your system - You may get a “No bootable device” error when the boot information, such as BCD (Boot Configuration Data) or MBR (Mater Boot Record) of your computer, is corrupted. You can try fixing or rebuilding the information to see if this fixes your problem.

    a. Put the Windows 10 installation media into your computer and boot from it.

    b. Select the language and region, and then click on Repair your computer

    c. Select Troubleshoot and then Command Prompt.

    d. In Command Prompt, type the following lines one by one and press Enter on your keyboard after each. (If you are asked whether you want to add a new installation to boot list, press Y and then press Enter.)

    • bootrec /fixmbr
    • bootrec /fixboot
    • bootrec /scanos
    • bootrec /rebuildbcd

    e. Exit Command Prompt and restart your computer. If this method works for you, you will be able to get through the "No Bootable Device" error now.
