Model 5740G-6979 Looking for compatible battery (to replace AS07A31)

I tried going directly to Acer for this legacy battery and they sent me to an authorized dealer. That dealer looked long and hard but was unable to make it happen. Twice I have ordered supposedly compatible batteries from Amazon and E-Bay, but these are 11.1 V and 5200 mAh and the original is 10.8 V and 4400 mAh. Although the batteries fit and the higher ratings sound like an improvement, the replacement batteries are not detectable by the laptop (I tried the battery reset trick, etc.). I am taking a long shot here, hoping that someone has found a truly compatible battery for this model I purchased in 2015. Any suggestions?

There are voltages that are equivalent. For example:

3.6V = 3.7V

7.2V = 7.4V

10.8 V = 11.1V

14.4 = 14.8V
It is a minimal variation, but they are compatible.

Thanks for the information agydiocoelho! I did try earlier to update the BIOS to the 1.16 version, but the update failed. I will take a look at the batteries you listed and see if I can find one that fits. So far I have only found 11.1 volt, which is exactly 3% above the 10.8 volt of my original battery. Perhaps that is the problem - the manufacturer's margin for the guarantee is making the battery voltage just over the 3% (and therefore undetectable). I need to find a way to make the BIOS update work.

Success! I did get the BIOS flash to work for version 1.16 (on later versions 1.22 and 1.28 BIOS flash was failing). I went ahead and tried the second new battery which was sold by Fancy Buying on Amazon (Model number 4310). It is detected and works perfectly. Thanks for your input egydiocoelho !!!
