Hello, I am using an H277H (1080p) monitor that receives input from my PC and my Nintendo Switch. The PC connects to the monitor via an HDMI cable inserted in a DVI adapter, which is inserted in the DVI slot on the monitor. The Nintendo Switch uses an HDMI cable to connect to the HDMI slot. I'd bought the HDMI-DVI adapter specifically so I could swap
between my PC and Nintendo Switch instead of having to swap the cable
itself every time I want to change the input. In addition, the Nintendo Switch uses the monitor's speakers as audio output, which is only possible over a 'pure' HDMI connection.
The problem is as follows: whenever I have my PC on and the monitor is set to the DVI channel, the monitor refuses to change the input to HDMI whenever I click the 'change input' button. What does happen, is that the monitor goes dark as if it switches channels, but then just reverts back to the DVI channel without showing any other image in between, even though the Nintendo Switch is turned on. The only way I can get it to switch to HMDI is to physically pull out the cable coming from my PC, after which the monitor will search for other inputs and then finds the Nintendo Switch.
Is there anything I can do about this? I have changed and tested every single option on the monitor's settings, but nothing in there appears to solve my problem. Is there anything else that may be causing this? I realize this is mostly a matter of convenience, but in my opinion the monitor really should be able to function in the way I'm describing.
Thanks in advance
