Huh, my posting vanished? Okay, again, shorter version:

    Acer E5-771G-35BL (i3 processor)
    Slot 1: Samsung 4GB M471B5173EB0-YK0 (4GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800S 11 13 B4) (stock)
    Slot 2: empty

    I want to add another 4 GB module. I bought a used SK hynix HMT451S6MFR8A - PB NO AA (4GB 1Rx8 PC3L 12800S 11 12 B2).

Symptoms: Works only with stock module in slot 1 and empty slot 2. It doesn't work with only the SK hynix module in slot 1 and empty slot 2. "Not working" means: No display, blue power LED is on, short fan spin, some HDD activity, after a while the power LED goes off and it repeats again until I undo the battery connector.

Is there anything special I need to know? There was no RAM-specific setting in the bios, only the display which shows how much RAM it currently has installed.

Could it work if I buy exactly the same module as the one already installed? I since found some offers for such. 8 GB should be good enough for now.
