I have an Aspire TC-780-1A and want to install an M.2 SATA SSD (it won't take an NVMe) that I can boot from, but keep my current HDD for additional storage.  Is this possible?

    Good afternoon zig2 !

    Yes, this model has an M.2 slot for SSD in factor 2280 standard Sata 3 and can keep your HDD for data and files.

    The problem is that other posts suggest that you can't boot to an M.2 sata drive on this computer, because the MB won't recognize the drive in the M.2 sata slot to boot from if the computer also has an HDD drive.  Is that right?
  • The problem is that some people don't know that they should convert ssd to gpt.

    Yes,
    I installed a
    WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s M.2 2280 SSD - WDS500G2B0B
    purchased from NewEgg for 70 $US and used the free version of EASEUS software to transfer boot info from my mechanical 2 TRB drive to the new SSD drive.
    Best.

    @Mayhem89,
    Can you start a new thread and tell us more details how you " installed" the SSD? Also, what is "Not Registering"?
