Hello,

I have been looking to buy a 4k monitor for my laptop, however, I soon found out that it doesn't support 4k at 60hz, only at 30hz since my HDMI port is probably 1.4. I found that out when browsing for similar posts. I looked at the specifications and found out that my VN7-791G-78Y8 has a i7-4720HQ (Intel HD Graphics 4600) which supports a Max Resolution (HDMI 1.4) up to 3840x2160@30Hz (this is the information I got from the Intel website). Full specs of my laptop is here. So 4k monitor is no longer an option. The next best alternative would be a 2k monitor (2560 x 1440). However, I couldn't find a full list of supported resolutions by Intel HD Graphics 4600.

So my question is: can my laptop (VN7-791G-78Y8) display 2560 x 1440 at 60hz (or perhaps even higher resolution at 60hz)?

Also, is there a list of all supported resolutions by my graphics card somewhere? Since going to display adapter properties on Windows 10 and looking at "List All Modes" only shows a list of valid modes for current laptop's monitor.

Any help is appreciated.

You might thru the HDMI port but not guaranteed at 60Hz or above. It's HDMI 1.4A. Here's what's guaranteed. Jack E/NJ

Thank you for your reply, Jack, but I can view the list of supported modes up to 1080p on my Windows as well. I want to be guaranteed that it can support 1440p at 60hz before buying the monitor since I have no way of testing it out before buying one online.
