I have been trying to get my Laptop Screen to Mirror to My TV via the Firestick and have not been able to. I have it to a point where the laptop and the firestick see one another, but when I try to connect, the firestick exits display mirroring after about 1 minute.
I upgraded to Qualcomm driver today with no luck (although I can now connect to 5G after upgrading).
I am hoping someone has run across this and can point me in the right direction.
I checked the utility and see that Miracast is enabled -
I also found the following Miracast Details later in the dxdiag output..

Thanks JackeE - Yes I see it but no options.0

OK. Good. Now click on the FireStick RemoveDevice button. Then click on AddaDevice. Let it detect and add it. Then try to connect it again. Jack E/NJ

Done - After 1 minute - the firestick exits mirroring0

How long have you had this stick? Has it worked OK from another machine? Jack E/NJ

I’ve had the fire stick about 1 year and the laptop about 1 year as well. I have not tried it from another machine. Yesterday I noticed that Microsoft Edge has a casting function available. I tried to cast to the stick from it and this time I got a message “device not supported”.0

From the perspective of screen mirroring, this is my first try. Works fine for all other functions0

The only function that involve the R5 that I have tried is the screen mirroring. Are the other things that I can try to see if I can narrow the problem? Thanks JackE0

Maybe. What are its other functions that work fine but don't involve the R5? Jack E/NJ

I've been able to mirror from my Iphone using the Airplay app.0

Is the wifi preferred band set to auto? Have you tried 2.4GHz & 5GHz separately yet? Jack E/NJ

Just tried setting the bands as you mentioned and paring up at both and no luck. Thanks JackeE0

>>> firestick exits display mirroring after about 1 minute.>>>>>>I've been able to mirror from my Iphone using the Airplay app. >>>The R5 obviously works for a minute. The iPhone obviously works longer. So, other than the R5 & iPhone, what's different?(1) Is the TV the same? Because I initially suspected the FireStick might not be getting enough power from its port.(2) Are their router signal strengths about the same on the R5 vs iPhone?(3) Anything else seem different that might explain why the FireStick drops out with the R5 but not the iPhone?(4) Before trying to connect, open ControlPanel. Search 'resolution'. Click 'adjust screen resolution' in left pane. Do you see one or two screens?Jack E/NJ

CarlosH: The R5 has not been able to get past the "Connecting" phase.(1) Is the TV the same? Because I initially suspected the FireStick might not be getting enough power from its port.
CarlosH: Same TV - although it is an older model TV.(2) Are their router signal strengths about the same on the R5 vs iPhone?
CarlosH: Yes they are both within 4 feet of the firestick(3) Anything else seem different that might explain why the FireStick drops out with the R5 but not the iPhone?
CarlosH: The Iphone is not directly compatible for Mirrioring and requires an external app "Airscreen" to perform mirroring via the firestick.(4) Before trying to connect, open ControlPanel. Search 'resolution'. Click 'adjust screen resolution' in left pane. Do you see one or two screens?CarlosH; This question got me thinking as I was running dual monitors on my laptop in "extended screen" mode. I disconnected my second monitor to see it this would make a difference, but no luck. Same thing occurs, the Aspire and the Firestick see one another and attempt to pair, but no success.
I will see if I can try this experiment with a more up to date TV over the next few days and let you know if the issue is that I finally ahve a reason to buy a new TV.
Thanks!CarlosH/NYC0 -
>>>the firestick exits display mirroring after about 1 minute. >>>>>>The R5 has not been able to get past the "Connecting" phase.>>>OK. The first comment sorta threw me off. I thought it actually did mirror for a minute before exiting. But it was only trying to connect for a minute before exiting. Meaning it never mirrored. Is this correct? Jack E/NJ

Yes JackE - I have not been able to mirror at all. Thanks0

If you click on notifications in the tray & click on connect box, does it find the firestick OK but behave the same way? If yes, I think screen sharing needs to be turned on. Jack E/NJ
