I currently own the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-549R (2019 model). It currently has a 128GB NVMe drive.

I know it can support 2 NVMe drives and 1 SATA (through the old SATA port)

Does anyone know if the NVMe slots are 2x or 4x lanes. Or is there a way to enable the 4x lanes as some laptops ship with this disabled (I assume to save power)

I intended to add an additional 512GB sabrent NVMe and clone the OEM drive and replace the 1TB HDD with my 500GB Samsung Evo 560. I have already set SATA to ACHI.

Also will I be able to plug in the second NVMe and clone the OEM drive this way or will I need an external caddy?

Thanks!

Both m2 ports are pcie/sata co-lay both are PCIe gen3 x4. You can clone to the second NVMe.

Thank you! Last question, will doing these upgrades void my warrenty as I'll need to remove the back plate entirely as my model has no access points like older nitro models. Thanks

Do you have a warranty sticker on the one of the srews? If not then warranty will be not voided. If yes, then call Acer support for a quote.
