I have an Acer Aspire E 15 laptop, I also have a PNY 128GB 3.0 USB thumb drive.  Laptop has recognized the thumb drive in past, but sparingly.  Now it never recognizes it.  Can someone explain to this non tech savvy guy what I need to do? I have thousands on files on the thumb drive.

Believe it or not. Thumb drives do eventually fail due to limits on the number of read/write cycles. But assuming your drive isn't dead yet, try to blow out the USB port and the USB drive plug itself for any dust and debris that might've accumulated inside. Also might to help loosen debris up inside the port and plug by gently inserting and brushing around with a thin piece of card board strip cut from a cereal box. Jack E/NJ
