Aspire A515-54G 58Z6 constant over heating issue

I had purchased Acer Aspire A515-54G 58Z6 on January 21st 2020 from Amazon India. The laptop is great and works well. There is only one issue I constantly keep facing while using my device - excessive heating.

A lot of times when I play games, the device gets over-heated and stops working abruptly. It stays off for about 5 minutes after that and then I am able to turn it back on. Today when I was watching a movie on netflix, the device was on charge and it stopped working suddenly and got switched off because it got over-heated. Sometimes even while using the device while on charge, it gets very very hot.

This heating issue is constant even during regular usage (using browser and microsoft office, nothing else) whenever I use it with increased brightness. Please advise on how to rectify this as it is unexpected of a brand new device with brand new hardware to behave like this.

Try changing ControlPanel's power plan from performance to balanced mode. If it's already in balanced mode, the heatsink thermal paste is probably dried out and needs to be repasted with a good quality paste like Kryonaut or ArcticMX4. Since the machine is still under warranty this work would probably have to be done by an ACER authorized service center. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for the suggestion. Is it possible to check if the issue is with the heatsink thermal paste without opening up the laptop? And alternatively can using a cooling pad be a permanent solution for this issue?

The back cover must be removed to check on thermal paste. So I don't recommend that you do it since the warranty might be voided. A cooling pad helps but only as a temporary solution. It reduces the portability of choosing a laptop vs. an easier-to-cool desktop. Jack E/NJ
