Aspire S13 S5-371 Fan squeaking and stopping on Aspire S13

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire S13 S5-371 that was bought in 2017.

Since a year or so, the fan sometimes makes a weird noise, as if it was rubbing on something, and suddenly stops, before starting again. At the beginning, it was only once or twice per hour, when the fast was going too fast. But now it's really often. When it begins it doesn't stop and it makes a loud squeak every ten seconds.

I opened the laptop and removed the dust, but it didn't improve. When I look at the fan there seems to be nothing wrong. I cannot have it replaced now because of the confinement in my country. I saw somewhere that putting a little oil in the hole where the fan axis goes could work, but I don’t want to make things worse.

I joined a recording of the noise (I had to put it in an rar archive because the website doesn’t allow me to join a sound file).

What do you advise me to do?

Thank you

I finally put some grease in it and it solved the problem (for now...)

I removed the case, cleanned it good and used some WD40.
It's been qorking for a week so far.
    Thanks for the tip.

I had one with a lot of fan rattling and grinding noises for a very long time. After I took the cover off to inspect inside the laptop and to find nothing obvious, I unscrewed and disassembled the fan to find the blades were brushing up against metal corrosion that had built up in the fan case. Once I cleared/filed it away/off the very little clearance between the case and the blades, the noises went away.
