I purchased an Aspire A315 to replace the Aspire V7 in which the fan crapped out. The V7 screen, with the HDMI plugged in, didn't work if the audio receiver and TV was off. With the receiver and the TV on, the screen was good. With the HDMI not plugged in, the screen was good. When I started using that setup, it worked fine. Is it possible that the receiver damaged the laptop to cause that problem? With this new laptop, I'm afraid of the same thing happening.
Thanks

You can toggle the TV screen on and laptop screen on and off with the FN+F5 toggle key combination. Shouldn't hurt anything whether or not the TV is powered on or off. Jack E/NJ
