Acer Predator Helios 500 fans not working until I start the Predator Sense App

Hello everyone,

I have got my Helios 500 with an i7-8750h, GTX 1070 and 16GB of RAM for almost 2 years now. The described problem occured, when I re-installed the Predator Sense App, because there was a newer Version on the Acer Website. However, I now have the problem, that every second (estimated) bootup, the fans DO NOT automatically sart spinning faster, when I enter a game, or use the Laptop for a longer time. When I notice, that the little air, the slow fans can get out of the case, is getting warmer, I start up the Predator Sense App and notice, that both my CPU and GPU are at 90 degrees or more and the fans suddenly speed up to almost the maximum speed. I don not know, if I can fix the problem by adding the Predator Sense App to the Auto-Boot. This would also mean, that I always see the overlay when I start my Computer. I just want my fans to work properly.

So, how can I fix this problem ?
Do I have to add a certain file to the autoboot or anything similar.

I hope somebody can help me with this problem and I would sure be very thankful for that.

What happens when you reset the battery?

Just to be sure: I will not open the laptop. I am indeed able to do so, and I know how to do all of that, but I would lose my warranty, because the battery is not in the service flap. In this flap are just RAM, SSD and HDD.

you don't need to open the laptop. Check that in the lower case there is a hole in the back and press it for five seconds. If not, press the power for 12 seconds.

Are you sure that fans only work after opening the predator sense? What is the version of the bios? What happens when you activate coolboost on acer quick accesss? Acer quick access also has some control over fans.

As said earlier, the fans almost never work without starting Predator Sense. Moreover, I always have the Cooler Boost on. The BIOS-Version is, according to CPU-Z the Version V1.16 from 10/24/2018. That is pretty old to be honest and I do not really know, how I update the BIOS. Is my data safe when updating ?

Your model already has the latest bios. Press windows + r and type msconfig. Go to services and click enable everything. Check to see if it solves the problem.
