I have bought Acer Swift 3, i5-8GB-512GB SSD, Model No-SF314-57, Part Number: NX.HJFSI.001 on 26 Feb 2020. This laptop comes with 10 hours of battery backup, in starting I have also verified the same (not exact 10 hours but able to use it in a whole day without charging) but after 1 month uses the Battery backup dropped to 3 to 3.5 hours max
And also found a heating problem in 10 minutes of uses. Also, the Acer care center app hanging problem every time when it's opened.

Also, I'm not able to use customer self-service, showing the message "The entered serial number/SSID is not valid. Please check, if the problem persists contact your nearest Acer Contact Center." pls suggest what to do.

I am also experiencing the same issue. I had called customer care and they advised me to download bios v1.13 which worked at that time but now again I am facing the same issue. Sometime my swift 3 would give backup of  5-6 hrs without heating up and some time of 3 hrs with lots of heating.
    Pls help

@Pawanaryan73 I replied to your other thread. Please try the steps I've outlined there and let me know how it's going. Your SNID will only work if using the correct site, if you are in the US for instance putting your number in to the UK site will not work.
@arun6765 if you don't have the same exact model and configuration as the original poster you should start your own thread. It sounds like you may have done some of the things I suggested, but I'm not sure if you have tried them all. Go to the other thread and try each step, then start a new thread with your results.

    Dear Billsey,

I did the battery reset and charged it to full & then checked the backup under standard uses (same as in starting) and found it is about 5.30 hours. first 50% of the battery lasts very well without heat and it seems it's going beyond the 10 hours but after 50% it drained drastically in 1 hour with heat.

Sorry, it's been a busy day here today... So I'm running a bit later than normal. :)
The battery reset does not drain the battery, it only resets the information that the battery stores internally. If that info gets corrupted then the battery will say it's empty when it's really mostly full.

So then it's more likely the Windows calibration than the battery needing a reset. To calibrate a battery in Windows you run it on battery until it shuts down due to low battery. Then you charge it fully with the laptop off and only turn it back on when fully charged, where you unplug and run it down again. Two to three cycles are usually enough to get the calibration accurate again. Let us know if that works.

Hi, may I know if the above suggested way to fix the battery issue does not require a battery reset?

I bought the same model in February 2020, and recently I have been noticing that the battery is draining quite fast. Even when I put the laptop on sleep mode, I would return to find notifications that it is in critical low power mode despite that I had left it at almost full charge a few hours before. Also, when I'm charging the battery, it heats up quite significantly and I am not sure if that's something to be concerned about. Thanks!

A battery recalibration and a battery reset are two different things, but somewhat joined. The battery reset clears the data stored in the battery and can be helpful if that data gets corrupted. A battery calibration resets the data that Windows stores for the battery, and again it can be helpful if that data is corrupted. Depending on model it might be easier to calibrate before resetting, or visa versa.

Thanks! I will try out the recalibration option to see if it works.
