Aspire A715-72G Wifi issues

Hi all,

This Laptop features the qualcomm qca61x4a card, and it keeps disconnecting... (i tried various drivers, xxx 722, 725, 938... ).

This driver : 4.0.2.217 (2/25/2016) is deemed to work, but i can't find it.

It's weird, the connection drops with modern routers, like ASUS RT-AC51U (with Padavan, as bridge), and i have tried every setting, no joy. The strange thing is that while disconnected, i have still access to the router's interface... but i can only ping the router. Same with the Wifi AP in the house. Windows 10 diagnostic tool complains about missing DNS, i guess it's a generic answer...

Then i have a router that works fine, it's a tinny TP-Link WR703N, but it's slow.

I mean it's weird, if only i could understand why this nano router works, i could fix the connection ? Many people complained about this Qualcomm card IIR, but did anyone find a solution ?

Open DeviceManager. Click Network Adapters folder. Right click qualcomm adapter. Click properties. Click power mgt tab. Uncheck allow computer to turn off wifi. Jack E/NJ

Thanks, it has been suggested sometimes, but it doesn't help so far....  I tried every setting there, also flushing the DNS cache doesn't help, i have to switch network, or reinitialize the card (go to airplane mode)... or 2 x  ipconfig /renew, anyway the card isn't asleep, since i have still access to the router !

Turn the laptop, router & modem off. Turn the laptop on. When it's fully booted, then turn the router and modem back on. Jack E/NJ

    Hi again,

Now i'm stuck even with a small USB adapter, like Moglor Dongle Adaptateur USB 600Mbps.

Ping to 8.8.8.8 is lost, while i still have connection to the router.... 192.168.1.1. over http and ssh.

The pb occurs when i come back to the PC after a while, maybe resuming from sleep....

SO FAR, the only trustfully stable connection i could achieve with this machine is using a

    TP-LinkWR703N with DDWRT.

This was the state while i was disconnected.

Now i will try to disable the remaining qualcomm card to see if while not in use, it still interfer.

    Hi,

last update, maybe it can help someone :

    - Using a dedicated DNS server doesn't solve the issue (because of the "DNS Probe Finished No Internet"  error message, i tried)
    - Also, some cheap Wifi-adapter won't do any good (maybe a 50$ will...) So, as someone said in the forum,
    - The solution is to replace the Qualcomm card with another one, for example the Intel AX200NGW, which works fine. There is really no driver that works, i tried .722, .725, .938 (the latest).  Also debugging the wifi connection is a hard job...

For what it's worth, a temporary solution can be to use a TP-link WR702n, or WR703n, with ddwrt. For an unknown reason the connection is stable with this hardware.

    Thanks,

    Lh
