I have an Acer Aspire A514-52 with Windows 10 pre-installed and I am trying to install Ubuntu to dual boot with the windows OS.
I have shrunk space in my C drive already. I have also used rufus to set up a live USB with Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. I have done this as GPT partition rather than MBR and used FAT32 file system because other tutorials suggest this should be done for Acer laptops.
As instructed in other tutorials for Acer laptops, I have also edited the BIOS options: I have disabled 'Secure boot' and enabled 'boot from F12'. Boot mode cannot be changed from UEFI in my BIOS.
After these steps, the F12 boot menu displays the options 'Linpus lite' and 'Windows boot manager'.
Clicking Linpus lite takes me to an almost blank Grub console with no options for Ubuntu installation, and clicking windows boot manager boots Windows as normal.
I have even tried changing the SATA mode from RST to AHCI, although this brings about the dreaded Windows blue screen with the error 'Inaccessible boot device'.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to resolve this issue?
