Hello everyone. I own an Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-52. A couple of days ago, I was able to do a successful dual boot of Ubuntu and Windows.

However, the kern.log is filled with the following errors:

Mar 24 23:04:29 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5627.376898] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0
Mar 24 23:05:21 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5679.558848] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0
Mar 24 23:06:10 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5728.149391] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0

Mar 24 23:08:41 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5879.349663] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0
Mar 24 23:09:32 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5929.757028] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0
Mar 24 23:10:22 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 5980.171775] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0
Mar 24 23:11:12 bokobelic-Predator-PH315-52 kernel: [ 6030.589287] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 11 - 0

Google search about the error talks about blacklisting the acer_wmi module. However, I do not want to do that blindly. Any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

System Specs:
OS: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Processor: i7 - 9750H
GFX: RTX 2060 Ti
Storage: 256GB / 1 TB

niko_belic_667 you would be probably better asking in the ubuntu community forum as acer doesnt officially support linux (apart from some race cases in which models that come with just a basic one which as far as i had seen they just formatted and installed windows instead) or maybe if anyone here managed to dual boot it using the same models as you have and without any errors at all i myself prefer to use vmware (safer less headache same purpose) when it comes to dual boot different OS's theres some threads around about dual boot with linux if you give it a search you will find them good luck :)
