Hello,

My Partner recently purchased an Acer Aspire 3, she will be using it for office work/browsing and listening to music when working.

When she loaded the laptop, all was working well. I started having a play about with it and noticed that there appears to be no sound drivers installed on the laptop, as opposed totaking this back, it seemed like it should be a simple process to load these on. I went via the acer site and downloaded both drivers for these I have now loaded these on and when trying to run RealTek Audio Console it fails and gives me a message of "can not connect to RPC service".

I have tried uninstalling these drivers and then reinstalling them and am still coming to the same conclusion.

If anyone can help/point me in the direction of where to start, i'd very much appreciate it.

As a not - I have went in to device manager and there is no realtek option within any of the settings for sounds or devices. I have looked in the menu's and it doesn't seem to recognise that there are any speakers.

Thanks,
GRitch

    Hi,
You could try updating Audio driver through optional updates in Windows update, go to Settings, click Update and Security tile, click Optional updates and see whether any Audio drivers listed, if so click the box in front of the available Audio driver and install.

Thank you for your reply. There is no "Optional Updates" option in the settings. Have tried searching settings for this also but comes up with zero results. Still no luck in getting drivers for this. Any other suggestions welcome.

GRitch, can you open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and post a picture of it?
I need to see if you have some devices listed that have a yellow exclamation mark on them.

There is this v6.0.8881.1 Realtek audio driver from Acer that you could try out.  I'm not sure if it will work with the A315-54-50D7

The other problem I seem to be having is that, as an example, when i downloaded the link above, the laptop will not automatically run the downloaded files. when double clicking the "setup" application to initiate and install, it will open asking if i'm sure and then nothing more happens mean that i cannot install this.

Due to the current situation, I cannot simply return this laptop and i have tried calling acer who i get no answer from
