Hi All,

I just recently bought a powerfull Concept D 17" 4K laptop with a RTX3000 GPU with 6Gb Ram.

I bought it to run Solidworks for my company.

The problem I have is if I open a few parts at once, let's say 4 from about 1Mb each, it opens very slow.

When the files are open everything like rotating the part, clicking is dreadfully slow.

It just very difficult to work with.

If I have a look at the task manager I see the GPU (RTX3000) is practically using 5Gb from 6Gb...

Even if I start a new part, with no sketch inside yet, it even uses about 3.8Gb from the 6Gb available.

I talked with SW support, and they don't have a clue.

I also installed the latest driver 442.74 but nothing changed.

But now the strangest part comes.

I deinstalled the Nvidia RTX driver completely and restarted, tuned off the RTX card inside device manager.

So now only the integrated UHD 630 graphics supposed to work, and I also confirmed this in task manager.

Now, I am suprised to see SolidWorks works like a charm.

I can open 20 files at once, it doesn't matter which and how big, It opens in seconds and when opened I can work on the part like it should.

No stalls, low memory messages, ...... very strange

Is there something wrong with my RTX3000 or what can be the problem here?

An RTX3000 should work alot better than my 512Mb onboard card?

Any help is appreciated,

I also asked the same question on this forum. And there you can also find a PDF with screenshots.

    Thanks in advance!

My experience over the years is that Solidworks often only does a good job with specific graphics cards, with many card designed more for gaming it has troubles. This is especially true with the yearly new releases, though the smaller updates can clear some of it up. Normally the Quadro cards are not an issue though, so I'm surprised you're seeing that with the RTX3000.

    Hi
    Thanks for the response.
    Yes it's very strange behaviour.
I already reinstalled Solidworks, and reinstalled 2020 Sp 2.0.
    No avail.
    Pretty frustrating.
The RTX scores pretty goor on benchmark tests like superposition.
    So the card works flawlessy.
My VAR is working on it.
Let's hope he get some answers for me.
Regards and good health in these times!
