Hi guys, i have a problem with this acer nitro 5 AN515-52-53LP that i bought a few weeks ago, what happens is that when playing any game it has fps drops like for seconds making it a bad gaming experience, it happens even while playing Fallout New Vegas which is a pretty old game. On the other hand, there is this overheating issue that i have not been able to find a solution. Can you help me getting the games to run smoothly and controlling the heat problem. I thank you in advance.

I have the latests drivers, the Intel HD one wont install from the utility because it has to be the one from the manufacturer, the thing is that i have the version 25.20.100.6446 installed and in Acer's web site is 23.20.16.5018 which i guess is older. Should I install this version I mean the 23.20.16.5018?
According to me this is simple, you have nvidia card also so go to nvidia site select you graphic card and download nvidia game ready software and install it will automatically update both graphic card to latest version.

Add your game in nvidia software to play in dedicated graphic card.

    Download NEW ONE from link-

    https://www.nvidia.in/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-in

Select your graphic card and download game ready driver. This will update your gpu driver

Nvidia software provide the best possible gaming experience for all major games. From early access through the lifecycle of the game, NVIDIA's driver team continues to exhaustively test all major milestones so they can optimize performance, maximize stability, and perfect overall gameplay functionality.

(Always play while plug in to get full performance and set power plan high performance)

HThank you for taking time to try and help, the driver is up to date (Nvidia one) yesterday I entered device manager and the intel one got updated too, but the issues remain, I have noticed that stutter happens when in-game messages apper, like new mission objetive or when some function or so gets unlocked.

may i know your temperature when you experience fps drop.
when fps drop immediately open nitrosense and check temperature and tell me

the temperature is between 87-96 ºc

SOLVED,This is happening because of temperature.

Acer nitro laptop are designed to work in high temperature without any damage till 85 degree c.

You are getting 90+ temperature, when temperature goes 90+ then gpu/CPU clock decreases and you experience lag and shuttering.this can be easily fix by thermal repasting. You can do yourself but in some countries acer do not allow to open laptop to upgrade or something else.if any damage to system while opening laptop it will void your warranty.

So,I suggest you to go to acer service centre they will fix this

Clean your CPU/GPU fans and repaste the CPU/GPU which could be the source of all your fps and overheating problems, the Nitro 5 AN515-52-53LP should not be doing that. Also and after you do all the above, I suggest that you get a good laptop pad cooler and use it when playing games and in general, they are a very good source of lowering CPU/GPU temperatures.

    Good evening Arao31 !

    Start with the basics:

1- all drivers and Windows must be properly updated
2- the device must be set to use the Windows high performance power plan
3- the battery must be charged to 100% before playing
4- the battery must be set to advanced power options for maximum performance
5- games applications must be set on the dedicated GPU Panel (AMD or Nvida, if you have one) to be the main one
6- the device must be connected directly to an exclusive power outlet, properly grounded without any adapter
    7- batterybooster must be disabled

Hi, thanks for answering, the thing is that the laptop is new, so dust may not be the problem, maybe i should repaste as you say but it would void the warranty, I guess I need more Ram Too 'cause I have just 8 gb; I do have a pad cooler...
could it be that my games are installed in the hdd and not in the ssd?

"could it be that my games are installed in the hdd and not in the ssd?" Yes, try and install them on the SSD and see if that solves the problem, as HDD are not as quick as SSD's and they do overheat and labour the system and could reduce your fps and overall performance. To me I still think that your laptop hasn't been pasted properly from when it was built and a new repaste with a top paste like the Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut which is a perfect paste for overclocking due to it's excellent thermal conductivity will improve your temps and performance. Note, repasting your CPU/GPU will not void your warranty also as you are not replacing and/or modding anything that could be detrimental to the laptop.

OK, heres something that you can do right now, Undervolt using a custom Throttlestop package designed by one of our gamers. They are well tested, safe and easy to use, link below

I've downloaded the file, but it continues to have stuttering when ever I save or any message displays on screen, i dont know whats wrong with my computer...Also sorry for the "indentation" of messages, I'm not familiar with the forum just yet. I guess the only solution is repasting, or at least that is all I've got before deciding the laptop is faulty
