Acer Aspire Z3-715 - making weird noise even if audio is off

Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm coming as a last resort.

For a while, my Acer Aspire Z3-715 all-in-one computer has been making a weird noise in the background. I feel like it's something inside (maybe the fan?). It sounds like this: https://clyp.it/sr1vtrjh (this is my recording).

Even if my audio is off, it still makes that noise. If I use headphones, it doesn't affect my music but the noise is still there. Can someone advise on how to fix things? I opened up the back cove yesterday and blew into the fan, to no avail.

Thank you!!

That is a pretty common fan noise. I haven't looked your specific model up, but there are typically several potential fans. The CPU fan, the PSU fan, potentially a GPU fan and potentially a case fan. The noise is typically an indication there is enough dust built up on the fan blades to cause an imbalance or enough wear on the bearings to allow rattle. If it's dust, clean the fan, if it's bearing replace the fan. A quick test for dust is to take a toothpick and touch it against the fan blades while they are spinning, the result will be the dust is shaken loose and if the toothpick is held solidly enough it'll stop the fan from spinning. If the noise clears up immediately after releasing to allow it to spin again get out a vacuum and clean everything as much as you can. If the noise didn't change when it starts back up, but the noise went away while the fan was stopped, replace the fan.

    Hi Srd2K16:

Try uninstalling the ACER touchpad in the Control Panel / Device Manager. You'll find the touchpad under "HID" devices.

Don't worry that you have no touchpad functions after you uninstall the pad. You can restart your computer via ctrl-alt-delete and cursors etc., when the computer reboots, the touchpad will reinstall.

    Hope this cures your ills!
