Hi!

I've just bought this monitor: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/a95114cb

And I have this GPU: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/gtx-970-gaming-4g.html

And I've already did

  • a DDU cleaning,
  • reinstalled the newest GPU driver,
  • and then manually added the monitor's .inf file to overwrite the Generic PnP display.
  • the cable is fresh from the monitor's box. (DisplayPort)

But for some reason I can't select higher frequency than 75Hz. Both in the Windows Display Settings, and in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Why? Thanks!

Which port are you using on the monitor? It looks like it's got two HDMI, one is 1.4 and the other 2.0. You might be on the wrong one.

I did a little research. It's not your monitor that is the issue. I believe it's the graphics card is where the bottleneck occurs. It's a six year old card and all the specs on MSI's website list a max of 60hz. I even went to some youtube channels and double checked. Even at 2k which is half your monitors resolution 60fps was the max output of the card. The graph shown didn't go higher than 60fps. Cycles per second is directly proportional to frames per second. The 75hz windows gave it was to add some wiggle room. Well, at least you know nothing is broken. Just going to need a faster card if you want to utilize your monitors full potential.
