Should my Aspire TC-281 work with dual channel memory?

I have just bought 16GB (2x8GB) of dual channel DDR4 PC4-21300 2666Mhz Patriot Viper memory. When I install them the machine won't even post. I have tried re-arranging the sticks in different slots without any luck. The only way my machine works is with the original 8GB single channel as the only installed memory.

If you have one stick it'll be single channel, if you have two sticks it'll be dual. So send your 2666 back and get a single 8GB 2400 stick to add to your existing and you'll have 16GB dual channel.

The TC-281 only supports 2400MHz memory, the processor and chipset don't allow faster speeds.

OK, Thanks, but is that single or double channel or does it not make any difference?

Thanks Billsey. Now I understand. I guess I threw to much techno stuff at my brain there and it rebelled, left me slightly befuddled.

Bewitched, bothered and bewildered? :) It's easy to overload on the technical minuities and lose sight of the bigger picture. :)
