Hi,
I have about 4.5 GB memory out of 8 GB as hardware reserved and has hit the wall trying to fix this. The computer has not been hardware modified, and the 8 GB is on 1 stick from kingston. Uefi reports the 8 GB but os cant use it. I had win 8.1 at first and later fresh installed win 10. I recall i was playing with virtualisation solutions when i noticed the problem, i also noticed from win 10 security settings menu that virtualisation security wasnt working at about the same time. Format/re-install of win 10 didnt help, now i run linux as single-boot and the problem persist. I have read about a uefi bug that will reserve more and more memory during failed boots but the document that seamed to actually describe my my problem was to technical for me (modding uefi values with hex isnt my strongest side). Anyone recognize this problem, or has any ideas?

I have tried loading defaults in uefi, switching to legacy and back with only more memory being reserved.

The only bios downloadable from acer is the one i have, im thinking of trying a crisis flash with the same version as installed to see if that changes anything.

Any help or thought exchange welcome.

Also worth noting is that i tryed the memory stick in another computer that could use all of it.

First don't mess with the BIOS, you risk bricking your computer/ Win 10 will reserve around 1gb for the OS which should leave 7gb available, I'm not sure what Linux reserves. The usual culprit for this type of behavior is background processes or programs so I would start there. However the easiest fix is to add another 8gb stick of RAM for 16gb total and forget about what is reserving your RAM. Even if the system continues to reserve 3.5gb you would have 12.5 gb available. Below are the RAM specs for your laptop
