Problems with Acer Aspire 7551-7422 booting up.

I have had a problem with my Acer Aspire 7551-7422 for over a year now. Lately, however, it has gotten a lot worse and I don't know what to do to fix it. I have sent it to be repaired twice only to be told that there was nothing wrong with it.

When I go to boot up, it gets to the 'Starting Windows' screen then seems to freeze. I use to be able to shut it down, start it up in safe mode, shut it down again and then boot it up normally. But, that no longer works. When I go to shut it down out of safe mode, it will not shut down all the way. Now the only way I can get it to boot up is by tapping the f2 key at the appropriate time and letting it do a memory diagnostics test. When it finishes the test it boots fine but always says that no errors were found. I have tried startup repair but that doesn't find anything wrong either except for saying that there have been changes to the system configuration. Also, if I tell it to do an extended memory diagnostics, it gets to 21% on the first pass and stops. I can then hit escape and it will finish booting up.

In the event viewer I find the following error: The embedded controller (ec) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly. Source: ACPI, Event ID: 13.

According to Acer I have the updated BIOS for my computer. Also, this only happens after my computer has been shutdown for a while. After I get it to boot up properly, it is fine until I shut it down for the night and don't go to get on it until the next evening, at which time it will not boot again.

Can anyone help me?

If you sent it for repair and it was not fixed, you should have contacted repair again.

Presenting a problem after the system is out of warranty makes it extremely difficult to effect a solution for you.

Have you attempted to contact service again?
