All of the sudden I noticed my monitor kind of flickering, or pulsing, like a light in your house does when there's a sudden power draw. It goes dimmer for a moment, then back to normal. It's so faint, it's just noticable, but it NEVER did that before, for the four years I've owned it.
Then I noticed a line kind of in the center of the screen, where it seemed like some pixels were not functioning right. That seems to have stopped, after happening a couple times.
Next, I noticed the top right corner of the screen is dim. A little darker than the rest of the screen, in an area about the size of a nickel.
Next, the monitor just went black. Turned it off and back on, and it looks fine (still see the fluctuations in lighting a little bit, but it's really not bad, just noticable.
Today it's shutting off freqently.
I took a flashlight to it, and I can see my desktop, my browser page, my mouse moving, but the screen is pitch black without holding a bright light up to it.
So it looks like the backlighting is going out. But whne I turn it off and bacl on, it works again, for awhile.
My monitor is not under warranty, so it seems my only option is to fix it myself.
I did a little reading and I was hoping the issue might be a blown capacitor, but I opened it up and I couldn't find a single one that looked raised/bubbled or burst in any way.
Does anyone know what is the likely problem, and it it's something that I could replace on my own?
Thanks for any advice you can give.
