hello, Predator helios 300 PH317-51 here.
When i bought this laptop i could choose automaticly up to 64hz, with cru up to 78hz.
since i downloaded drivers only 60hz. why is that. Is there a different way how to get more, even deleting drivers doesnt help get more than 60hz

im not sure what you're asking? if you're referring to refresh rate as in 144hz monitor then go to settings then system hit display then scroll to advanced display settings then hit display adapter properties for display 1. a new window will open then go to monitor tab then bring the drop down menu that says 60hz or 78 hz and look for 144 hz then hit apply. if you don't see that available option make sure yyou are using the laptops monitor, if plugged into a tv or a monitor that doesn't support 144hz you will not see that option listed.

laptop screen just 60hz, but with cru and other things im trying to get higher. I did get 78 before , but after updating drivers again just 60hz. The thing maybe some guys have the same laptop and find solution to make hz higher than 60hz.

Your screen is only capable of displaying at 60mhz, it may have said 78 before the driver update but your screen was still displaying at 60mhz, it isnt capable of more

niemandas as @andylb already said all predators with the 1080p sticker are only 60Hz displays and please dont follow the really dumb advice of overclocking your display to 95Hz or so because you will decrease its lifespan by a lot it wont last you long and you wont notice anything different and cant get back to normal you will only notice any difference from 60Hz to 120Hz because from 120Hz to 144Hz you wont feel anything either (this was tested with real pro gamers) if you want a higher refresh rate display either upgrade it (if you can without voiding your warranty) or get a external display that would support 144hz/240Hz over hdmi check the tested list here

Just recently had i flight and my external display were broken, that's why i'm into stuff like this, but still i don't get it why is that. Now i find out, if i disable intel graphics, and laptop display is on microsoft basic driver, without any overclocking i can change refresh rate to 78 and it feels much more better than 60hz,

What are u doing.do you think after disabling Intel graphic driver You will get good performance according to your system .you will get low performance in Microsoft basic driver.

And why you want to increase refresh rate

60hz is also good .I have  60hz refresh rate in laptop and I don't have any noticable issues other than some tearing when my FPS is over 60fps. In a lot of cases, Vsync can help with that. If you have a very powerful system that will constantly go above 60fps.you can use vsync with triple buffering on while gaming these settings can be done from both amd radeon software /nvidia software .

Vsync (vertical rate) not allow any game or program to get more fps then you refresh rate

60hz it completely fine you only notice anything if u upgrade to 120 that's the reality in fact pro gamers which have 144hz they use it at 120 because its better smoother I don't have any issues with 60hz and I always have vsync off in all games including latest and all max settings

i have been using titan army 32inches 240hz monitor for past 2 years and before 144hz ones, so it's too hard with 60hz and vertical sync doesn't help much for fps games. Anyways thanks guys. I'll try come up with something.

niemandas wel if you used to have 240hz going back to 60 would really be a nightmare but my advice remains dont try to overclock you internal display you will kill it just get an external one (easy option) check here for a tested 240hz working over hdmi list you can also check my signature and join the predator fb group for a up to date list in the announcement posts  or try to find a 120hz internal compatible one and replace it because as far as im aware theres no 17" 144hz available only 15"

Technically there is no definitive proof that overclocking your display decreases lifespan of the panel. Its also very common for manufactures to apply a "oc" to a standard 60hz to achieve 120hz/144hz, assuming you know the model#/manufacture date/and manufacture you can look up your panel to see the highest stable refresh rate.

Technically 2: you arent really "overclocking" rather you are forcing a "overdrive". Overclocking really only applies to things that have a clock value, but bc its the internet and most people are to lazy to point out the difference, its pretty known at this juncture as "overclocking"

It should be stated though, overclocking can cause issues with color and gamut depending on panel type. (example: IPS displays will desaturate colors and washout blacks the higher you push them)
It always pays to actually know what you are talking about before dispensing advice; a "oc" 60hz panel will run at the higher overclock above stock refresh rate and it can be verified either by using Testufo.com or dedicated panel performance hardware(just use testufo, most people arent going drop $1k on panel performance metrics for just an OC).

To those of you who believe you cant perceive a noticeable difference between say 60hz & 78hz, you are right in that the differences are miniscule but it can be seen provided you know what to look for. OC'ing you display has 1 added benefit assuming you find a stable clock, you can use v-sync at a higher refresh rate (assuming the game permits it, or doesnt have set standards in place).
