Hello,

I have a chromebook manufactured 07/05/2018 and another one the same manufactured 29/11/2016 - The 2016 one is working fine, no issues.
The 2018 (newer one) will not turn on and I cannot PowerWash.
I can get a message to flick up on screen for approx 0.1 sec that says the Chromeos is damaged and then the screen goes black
See https://youtu.be/IGeleOrkewA

I have taken the chromebook apart and disconnected the battery
When I reconnect the battery and plug power in I get a flashing blue light see:

This is how the chromebook looks with the cover off and the cable I have disconnected and reconnected is illustrated with a red arrow

Pretty stuck now so if anyone knows of any fix that would be great, however I think the Motherboard may be fried or potentially the battery is broken ?

Thanks in Advance

Usually a missing or corrupted ChromeOS issue is the drive. On your system the drive is an eMMC and soldered to the motherboard, so that could be a fairly major problem. First step is to ask, are you still in warranty? If so the best next step is to contact Acer support. If not in warranty any longer we could try to reflash the drive from a thumb drive...

As the screen does not say on then re-flashing cannot be achieved and I have tried that re Google support answer
    https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595?hl=en

Also I think that rather than it simply being a screen issue the chromebook is power-cycling, restarting after the message comes up.

Also I have raised with Acer Support and they have said Chromebook out of Warranty and would be chargeable, but gave no indication of what a charge for an assessment would be. Not at all helpful IMO

As the orange charge light does not come on then potentially maybe it is the battery ?
So to determine that I have tried to power on without battery connected, the Chromebook does not power on so there is likely circuitry preventing this.
Can anyone give me some information or point me in direction of information for pin-outs on the battery connector then perhaps I can test the battery.
Would a broken battery cause the issue of the chromebook screen not staying on ?

    Thanks

A bad battery could present as a startup followed almost immediately by a shutdown, but it wouldn't give the error message that says ChromeOS is damaged. That message would only appear when it is trying to load the OS and failing. You should be able to enter recovery mode if the problem is just a corrupted OS. You may be dealing with multiple simultaneous issues. :(
