Hello!
I've had the problem ever since I bought the laptop (brand new) a few months
ago. I already posted here two weeks ago, but since then I haven’t found a
solution.
When the laptop is idle and NOT connected to the charger, the fan will
sometimes turn on and be a little loud but only for some 10-15 seconds which
can be tolerated.
But… The battery on this thing lasts for about 4 hours when I’m only
browsing the web or writing text document (even with battery saver
option ON in Windows 10). Because of this I am eventually forced to plug it in
the charger. Immediately after connecting the charger, the laptop goes insane; its
fan(s) start blowing to the max for minutes on end, then they calm down for
maybe a minute and the cycle repeats. It is so loud I have trouble hearing someone
next to me talking. I could probably somehow tolerate all of this if I didn’t
have to spend a lot of time in a library, out of which I’ve been asked to leave
(or turn off my laptop) multiple times already.
A friend of mine has this exact same laptop, the exact same Windows 10
Education version and no such issues. I tried tweaking the Windows power
settings, but they do nothing; the laptop behaves as if I’m playing fifty games
at the same time, when in reality I’m reading an article online or not even
doing ANYTHING AT ALL.
I used CPUID HWMonitor to monitor the CPU temperature while Windows downloaded
updates: Before I plugged in the charger, the CPU was around 40 °C. Then I
connected the charger. It then jumped to about 70 °C, but at some points went
as high as 95 °C and the fan(s) were blowing like a jet engine. When it quieted
down, it went back to an average of 40 °C.
The fan is clean and there is no dust in there.
All this is causing me a lot of pain and I would be really grateful if
anyone could help me solve this problem. Thanks!
